On November 15, 2022, in the middle of Indonesia's G20 Presidency in Bali, the Deputy for International Economic Cooperation, Edi Prio Pambudi, along with Assistant Deputy of American and Pacific Economic Cooperation, Irwan Sinaga, accompanied the Coordinator Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto at the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) Meeting. PGII is a collaboration action of seven countries (G7) formed at the 47th Summit in England, June 2021 to allocate infrastructure development funds in the form of grants and loans of USD 600 billion to developing countries for the next five years. The countries that are members of the G7 are the United States, England, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada and France.
The PGII meeting was opened by President Joko Widodo as the host of the G20 Presidency. In his remarks, President Joko Widodo expressed Indonesia's support in the efforts to strengthen infrastructure development by G7 countries for developing countries. In addition, President Joko Widodo also emphasized that infrastructure development needs to empower local communities and economies to have a high sense of ownership and support for developing countries to build independent capacity and capabilities.
Since there were other meetings to attend, President Joko Widodo left the PGII meeting sooner. So that the Coordinator Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto replaced the President until the meeting was over. On that occasion, the Coordinator Minister for Economic Affairs became the moderator and invited Germany, South Korea, Senegal, Canada, Argentina, England, and India to express their perspective of views. Before the PGII meeting was finally closed by the President of the United States, President Joe Biden.
