The activities of Deputy VII during December 2022:


1. Agent of Change Activities: The Advanced Stage Training of International Protocol Technique within the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs

Jakarta, November 30, 2022 - December 1, 2022


On November 30 and December 1, 2022, the Advanced Stage Training of International Protocol Technique activities were held by the Agent of Change Deputy Ministry of International Economic Cooperation known as SESKO KSEI. The training was attended by the representative of each Assistant Deputy in the Deputy Ministry of International Economic Cooperation, and also attended by some employees from the Secretariat of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. Meanwhile, other employees who cannot attend the training offline can attend the training online through the zoom platform.


The two days trainings covers:

  • November 30, 2022: The advanced stage training of International Protocol Technique within the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs

The first day of the training was presented by Ambassador Dienne Hardianti Moehario, and Suprio Utomo Nadir from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The first agenda was brought by Ambassador Dienne Hardianti regarding the advanced understanding of International protocol techniques which included: the basics of protocol law, International meeting layout, ceremonial procedures, how-to show respects to the delegates and leaders, dress code-procedures, state guests visit to Indonesia, how-to prepare the Indonesian President/Vice President visit to abroad, protocol ethics in international relations, and the types of international conferences.


Then, the next agenda was brought by Suprio Utomo Nadir with the following topics: protocol services at international conferences, the planning and preparation stages for international conferences, and other ethics such as table manners and dress code for international meetings.


  • December 1, 2022: Training on Fundamentals of Negotiation/Bargaining Techniques at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs


The second day of International protocol training was filled with material related to the Fundamentals of Negotiation / Bargaining Techniques at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs by Ambassador Sumadi DM Brotodiningrat. In his presentation, Ambassador Sumadi discussed several important matters related to negotiation techniques including: understanding of negotiations, objectives of negotiations, stages in negotiations, negotiations on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, negotiation products, actions to consider to conduct negotiations, skills in negotiations, behavior in negotiations, factors that influence negotiations, and the challenges in negotiations.


 
2. Ekon Goes to Campus 2022: National Seminar "Road to Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023”

Jakarta, December 2, 2022

On Friday, 2 December 2022, a visit was made to Padjadjaran University Jatinangor, Sumedang - West Java, which was initiated by the Bureau of Communication, Information and Legal Services of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in order to organize the National Seminar "Road to Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023".


 
3. Accompanying the Coordinating Minister for the Economic Affairs to Receive the Work Visit of the President of JAPINDA, Yasuo Fukuda.

Jakarta, December 2, 2022

On December 2, 2022, Deputy Edi Prio Pambudi accompanied the Coordinating Minister for the Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to receive a working visit of the President of the Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA), Yasuo Fukuda, who was also the Prime Minister of Japan in 2007-2008. The meeting was held at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.


The meeting was also attended by a number of Japanese company leaders, and the Japanese ambassador to Indonesia to discuss Indonesia-Japan economic cooperation, as well as issues related to reducing carbon emissions, environmental conservation, electric vehicle (EV) development cooperation, and cooperation in infrastructure.


 
4. Rangkaian Acara KTT Peringatan ASEAN-EU: Mendampingi Pertemuan Menko Airlangga dengan Kementerian Luar Negeri Swedia.

Brussels, December 13, 2022

Assistant Deputy for European, African, and Middle East Economic Cooperation, Fajar Wirawan, on 13 December 2022 accompanied Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto in his meeting with the State Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Håkan Jevrell on the sidelines of the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit.


Issues discussed at this meeting included increasing cooperation in the economic sector between Indonesia and Sweden, Sweden's support in accelerating the completion of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU CEPA) negotiations, and Indonesia's encouragement of the importance of Sweden's support in cooperation in efforts to reduce emissions through utilization of renewable energy.


 
5. 1st SHERPA meeting of India's G20 Presidency: One Earth, One Family, and One Future

Udaipur, December 9, 2022


The Deputy Ministry of International Economic Cooperation, Edi Prio Pambudi, as the Co-Sherpa of the G20 Indonesia led the Indonesian delegation on the agenda of the first Sherpa Meeting of the Indian G20 Presidency on 4-7 December 2022.


The meeting that was chaired by India’s Sherpa, Shri Amitabh Kant, was not only attended by the Sherpas of G20, but also attended by the invited countries and international organizations to set key discussions regarding the most pressing issues of the moment. The meeting consisted of 5 sessions namely technology transformation, green development and LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), highlighting women-led development, accelerating the implementation of SDGs, facilitating inclusive and resilient growth, and multilateral reforms.



Co-Sherpa Edi Prio Pambudi said as Troika, Indonesia will support India towards a strong and successful India G20 Presidency. In line with the G20 Summit in Bali, India's G20 Presidency, especially focusing on digital transformation as key to the future of the global economy and accelerating global recovery. Regarding current issues and national interests, Indonesia also supports the formation of new working groups in India's G20 Presidency, such as the Disaster Risk Resilience and Reduction Working Group, Culture and Startup 20 Working Group. Indonesian initiatives during Indonesia's G20 Presidency also continued, such as the Digital Economy Working Group.


 
6. Pertemuan Bilateral IEU CEPA: Mendampingi Menteri Koordinator Bidang Perekonomian Airlangga Hartarto dengan Executive Vice President of the European Commission Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis

Brussels, December 13, 2022



Assistant Deputy for European, African and Middle East Economic Cooperation, Fajar Wirawan, accompanied the Coordinating Minister Airlangga in a bilateral meeting after the EU-ASEAN event, during a meeting between the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.


Efforts to accelerate the completion of the Indonesia-EU CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) were the main discussion at the bilateral meeting.


The two parties also discussed a number of issues, including trade disputes which are of concern to both parties and are currently being resolved through the WTO route. Indonesia and the European Union agreed to address various issues related to trade disputes and encourage the IEU CEPA agreement to become an alternative solution to economic, trade and investment problems between the two parties. The IEU CEPA negotiations themselves are currently taking place virtually and both parties are looking forward to achieving significant progress. This is because the two Leaders (President of the Republic of Indonesia and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen) have agreed to accelerate the completion of the IEU CEPA negotiations.


Coordinating Minister Airlangga and EVP Dombrovskis also agreed to increase cooperation in the energy sector between the two parties through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) program by the European Union which was launched at the Bali G20 Summit last November.


 
7. Subsidiary Arrangement Amendment Signing: PROSPERA Program Extension

December 16, 2022

The governments of Indonesia and Australia are extending cooperation in the field of economic governance by signing the Indonesia-Australia Partnership Program for the Economy (Prospera) Exchange of Letters which will be valid until 2026.


The signing was carried out by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Deputy for International Economic Cooperation Edi Prio Pambudi, together with Deputy Secretary for Southeast Asia and Global Partners Group Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia Michelle Chan, on 9 December 2022 in Canberra Australia. In the future, this agreement will also expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries.


"Apart from providing experts and regular consultations, the two countries can also exchange experiences regarding policy reforms by the governments of the two countries through the Prospera program," said Deputy Edi.
