The activities of Deputy VII during February 2023:
1. Meeting of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs RI with Minister for Exports of United Kingdom
Jakarta - February 1, 2023
Assistant Deputy of Economic Cooperation for Europe, Africa, and Middle East accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia in welcoming the United Kingdom’s Minister for Exports, Andrew Bowie MP, on February 1, 2023.
Minister Airlangga conveyed that one of Indonesia's priorities in its ASEAN Chairmanship this year is strengthening the economic digitalization, where Indonesia is given a demographic bonus and need to be aligned with digital growth which continues to increase.
Minister Bowie also expressed the United Kingdom's readiness to assist Indonesia in developing cooperation on renewable energy, including investment and transfer of technology in Indonesia.
2. The 13th Round of IEU - CEPA Negotiation
Bali - February 6-10, 2023
Indonesia - EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU CEPA) negotiations took place in Bali from February 6 to 10, 2023.
The Working Group (WG) which held the meetings namely Trade in Goods (TIG), Technical Barriers to Trade, Investment, Dispute Settlement, Transparency and Good Regulatory Practices, Rules of Origin, Trade Defense Instrument, State Owned Enterprises, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), Economic Cooperation and Capacity Building (ECCB), Trade in Services, Government Procurement, Intellectual Property Rights, and Institutional and Final Provisions.
Assistant Deputy of Economic Cooperation for Europe, Africa, and Middle East lead the Indonesia Delegation to chair WG SMEs.
In accordance with the commitment of the two heads of state, both Sides now expedite to conclude the negotiation in this year.
3. Attending JCM Global Partnership Meeting
Tokyo - February 13-16, 2023
The 2022 Joint Crediting Mechanism Global Partnership Meeting Japanese Fiscal Year 2022/JCM GPM 2022 was attended directly by representatives from 35 JCM partner countries, including Indonesia.
This activity aims to increase capacity and share experiences from each country in implementing JCM as well as the latest developments in global governance related to efforts to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
The delegation of the Republic of Indonesia was represented by the Assistant Deputy for Multilateral Economic Cooperation as the co-chair of JCM and representatives of the Indonesian JCM Secretariat. On the sidelines of the activity, bilateral meetings were also held with the Japanese Ministry of Environment (MOEJ), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other Japanese organizations to discuss the implementation of JCM in Indonesia.
4. Pre-delegation Visit and Press Review Hannover Messe 2023
Hannover, February 14-17, 2023
Assistant Deputy of Economic Cooperation for Europe, Africa, and Middle East attended the Pre-Delegation Visit and Hannover Messe Press Review for Indonesia's preparation as the Official Partner Country of Hannover Messe 2023 on February 14 to 17, 2023.
The Press Preview was attended by 120 journalists and 25 selected companies to provide a preview regarding the holding of the Hannover Messe 2023 on 17 - 21 April 2023.
The Indonesian Delegation also conducted coordination meeting with DMAG, as well as observing the Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC) and several other locations that will be the venue for the Hannover Messe 2023.
5. Attending The Kick-off Meeting of the 10th World Water Forum
February 15, 2023
Assistant Deputy for Multilateral Economic Cooperation attended The 10th World Water Forum's Kick-off Meeting on February 16, 2023. Focusing on the thematic process session on the topic of Cooperation and Hydro Diplomacy. The thematic process breakout session was led by Mochammad Amron (GNKPA) as Moderator and Mohammed Abdel Vatah (OMVS) as Co-Moderator.
This activity was attended by Contributors and Participants. The contributors who attended the discussion forum were each representative from: i) Deputy for Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs; ii) the Deputy for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation; iii) the Governor of East Java; iv) Head of Regional Infrastructure Development Agency of the Ministry of PUPR; v) Director, Ministry of Equipment and Water Morocco; vi) President, Mediterranean Water Institute (IME); and vii) Project Regional Coordinator, Senegal River Basin Organization (OMVS).
The results of the thematic process breakout session will be reported at the closing ceremony to all participants of the 10th World Water Forum, and the results will be used as essential substance material to resolve the topic of each forum theme.
6. Attending Bilateral Meeting with Japan Embassy - PLN - Participant Project regarding JCM Partnership
February 15, 2023
Meeting with PLN, JCM Indonesia Secretariat and Japan Embassy is the following meeting after lunch between Japan Embassy and JCM secretariat. One of the issues discussed is the use of renewable energy certificates in every plant and carbon credit as well. This is very related to carbon trading issue and the sharing of JCM carbon credit between two countries
This time, an audience held by Indonesia JCM secretariat and Japanese embassy will be discussed by PLN first and will be followed in C-level meetings.
7. Attending Drafting Joint Statement for G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
February - 16-17 & 22-23, 2023
The Joint Statement (JS) Drafting Meeting was held virtually on 16-17 and 22-23 February 2023. These meetings had discussed the outcomes for Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM). Sous-Sherpa India acts as Chairman. Indonesian delegation was led by the Co-Sous Sherpa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tri Purnajaya, and was accompanied by representatives from the Directorate for Development, Economy and Environment and Assistant Deputy of Multilateral Economic Cooperation. FMM itself will be held in New Delhi on 1-3 March 2023.
